The following contains instructions on how to upgrade the Nod application. Nod includes an application which is installed on screens and this occasionally requires an upgrade. Following these instructions will upgrade the application remotely and there should be no need to interact with the physical screen.
If your queue is configured to push overnight, Nod will wait until overnight to upgrade the application. If your queue is configured to push immediately, as part of Nod's next communication with the screen it will instruct it to upgrade (usually within 5 minutes).
Upgrading the application will interrupt the play of content when the task is pushed. It will also perform a restart of the screen, so it is a good idea to check the screen alerts shortly after the upgrade to make sure the screen is online.
You can check the status of the queue of all screens by navigating to the Queue tab. Alternatively you can view the queue of each screen by opening the screen (from the Locations tab, or Dashboard) and selecting Edit Screen. Then open the tab labelled "Changes" and this will display any tasks waiting to be pushed to the screen. Note: if the tasks have already been pushed to the screen they will not show and this can happen very quickly.
Please note, these instructions do not relate to screen firmware upgrades.
Upgrade selected screens from the Locations tab
If you have the Locations tab enabled, you can multi-select which screens you want to upgrade.
1. Navigate to the Locations tab, find the Tasks drop-down in the top right.
2. Click on Tasks to open a drop-down option to Update application.
3. Click on 'Update Application' to enable the following view on the screen.
With this view, Nod will shade out any screens which are already on the latest version. For those which need an upgrade, it will display the current app version on the screen, along with which version is available to upgrade to.
4. Select which screens you wish to upgrade by clicking on the screen card. You can select as many as you wish. Then select "Update application on selected screens". This will push the task to the queue for these screens.
5. If you want to verify if the screen is on the latest application version, you can select the "Update Application" task again and check if the screens are now greyed out.
